Of course not! You are securing your rights by registering your film with IMPA.

IMPA is dedicated to assisting you in the protection of your ownership and intellectual property rights in your film.

Signing up and registering your film with us means you obtain a certificate of ownership and your ownership interest information is added to a database so that the world knows who your film belongs to and who has rights in the film.

Your rights are more secure and better protected!

No! IMPA is a non-profit organization that certifies film ownership and rights, then logs the ownership with the chain of rights to the film on a database.

IMPA is not responsible for the rights and is not liable to any infringement of rights for any unsolicited film or other media that is submitted to our site.

So no unsolicited film material please!

This means pirates and thieves beware!

IMPA has created an online, searchable database that contains the ownership and associated ownership rights for each film title.

Any film that has been given a Title Certificate will be searchable on this database and the relevant information will be available online.

Don’t worry, this database is user-friendly!

Any user that has signed up to use IMPA services will log in and can search the database by the name of the film, the IMPA assigned film identification number or the name of the owner of the film.

The fields are easy to identify and populate. As long as you have a title of the film, or the IMPA film identification number, or name of owner, you are just a few clicks away from revealing who owns the film.

Applying is easy!

To apply for a Title Certificate, you must provide the legal and ownership documentation to IMPA.

Once IMPA’s legal team has reviewed the documentation, an IMPA Film Licensing Certificate is issued.

Once the Certificate is issued, the film rights will be added to the searchable online database on IMPA.

You will receive an electronic image (JPEG) of your certificate and a hard copy of the Licensing Certificate will be mailed to you at the address you provide.

Let it roll! Time to promote the film with the protection it and you deserve.

Wait, you were rejected? Let’s regroup.

If you have legitimate licensing rights to a film and are rejected, all you need to do is provide additional documentation or signatures to resubmit.

It is important for the validity of the registration and integrity of the information for the film community to insure the right owner is given credit and that those with licensing rights are protected. We will work with you to figure out what you are missing if your registration is rejected.

You bought it so you should own it!

Distribution Certificates verify distribution rights of the film and also certify what countries these rights are valid.

This Distribution Certificate establishes proof of rights to the film on a searchable database and can be attached to all legal documents in future transactions.

The Distribution Certificate is also placed before the start of the film so that the distribution rights are clear, obvious and unambiguous.

If a film does not have a Distribution Certificate, then it will be obvious to third parties that the film is likely to be a pirated version being misappropriated and is subject to action.

It is all about protection!

Films need Distribution Certificates to protect filmmakers and interested parties from infringement of rights and piracy of film content.

Last year 73.7% of 78.5 billion visits to the internet were to access pirated films and T.V. content.

Protect your investment in the film!
